Voting secrets

The PC and Liberal Parties should take no joy from the transparent and therefore fully remediable hitches and glitches of the Canadian Alliance leadership race. ("Long drops Gaspe members", 21st June) Thanks to an arcane system that disguised the actual vote, neither the public nor even the PC membership knows the first or second ballot numbers that made Joe Clark leader. A close look at the leadership selection system of the Liberals would reveal similar anomalies.
